[Tekkit][1.7.10] World Automation V1.6C Released!

UPDATE: Iguanatweaks and immersive engineering have been removed due to bugs and crashs. Also, the custom menu is live. Thanks Slit for making it.

Hello guys, I've just released a new update and it's time to discuss it here! As far as the future of this pack, we are working hard at extensively testing the pack and fixing issues before it is used as a new server here, to save Brunyman some work :) So there will likely be frequent configuration updates to fix issues, but I'll keep these forum posts to only updates that have significant changes in the pack.

So, with versions 1.5a and 1.6a, we've been testing to find issues and updating the configuration. We've significantly updated the configuration for ProjectE and disabled several items from that mod to make it less OP for players to be using, and more of an endgame mod. We also had to pull the EnderIO mod, as it caused 11 of the 14 server crashes in our testing for the past few days! It creates an "invalid world ticking" exception according the crash log, so for now we've pulled the mod in favor of stability. But don't worry, we've added Mekanism and Immersive Engineering to make up for it with new power systems and machines.

I've also pulled OptiFine from the build due to stability issues on some systems caused by it. You're welcome to add it back into the pack by downloading from here: http://optifine.net/adloadx?f=OptiFine_1.7.10_HD_U_C1.jar

Expect version 1.6b to be released in the coming days, which will feature a custom main menu made by one of our own awesome staff members, Slit!

I'd also like to give a big shoutout to Beh, Skittles, Monocrame, Rocksmasher99, Slit, Abishoparts, JJWomble, and yosefshaked for assisting me in testing this pack. Multiple issues in the pack would not have been discovered (and fixed!) without your help, so I want to give a big thank you to you guys as well as the CraftersLand community for supporting this project.

Like always, download by searching for "World Automation" in the Technic Launcher or by going

here: http://www.technicpack.net/modpack/cl-updt.747803

Be sure to break it and tell me how you did it!

I hope 2016 is going great for all of you, and thanks for reading!

Doesn't look very compelling. I don't see anything that would make me go from Tekkit to this as it is basically the same content just 1.7.10. The list doesn't look to me like lots of thoughts have been put into selecting the mods, more like a random selection of what's available.

- Buildcraft+addons: outdated since forever, quarry causes lag, no one needs this mod. Period.

- Treecapacitator: basically pointless since you got TC.

- ChickenChunks: this mod is banned on all servers, why is it in the pack?

- ComputerCraft: outdated and completely replaced by the way better OpenComputers mod.

- No EnderIO? Why?

- IndustrialCraft: not sure if anyone still plays that but then well...

- legacyjavafixer: yeah we totally need that... not! :D

- Reis Minimap: seriously?? That thing is crap and has been replaced by several other mods for years.

- Veinminer: if a 3x3 TC hammer just isn't fast enough. Concept? nope...

I am not sure what the target was for this mod, but to me it just looks boring as hell.

The exact purpose is to update tekkit and improve it....

Buildcraft is great, its more for mechanical aesthetics and not necessarily efficiency.

Treecapacitor is more for early game or those who choose to use vanilla or other tools.

Chickenchunks still works in sp, the pack isn't mp only.

CC is just a tradition and its nice.

EnderIO causes major world bugs and a very unstable server.

IC2 is EXTREMELY useful, it has mechanics that are more complicated than the "plug and play" that most mods use when it comes to power.

legacyfixer is still useful depending on the java version you use.

REI is more streamlined than something like journeymap which bogs down your client by a fair amount

Veinminer is there because I asked for it, again, good for early game.

Thank you for the feedback, I agree with Slit's responses above. This was intended to be an update to the original Tekkit, and we changed the theme from Space Travel in the original Tekkit to World Automation, so lots of tech mods and very little magic overall. To add a few comments to what Slit said, I personally picked Rei's Minimap because, like Slit said, JourneyMap was too resource heavy client side and not a really easy-to-use GUI. Rei's has been updated quite a bit since 1.6.4, with an entities radar, cave mapping, and more. And it's nice to have a map GUI that is not full screen, in my opinion at least, especially if a zombie walks up behind you with it open and tries to kill you :P

OpenComputers is definitely in consideration for a future release, at this point we're focusing on stability over adding new content. BuildCraft and ComputerCraft were both loved mods in 1.6.4, so I didn't want to just kill them off in an update that's intended to be based on Tekkit. ChickenChunks, Veinminer, TreeCapitator, and LegacyJavaFixer all have their applicable usage in certain scenarios. And some people really prefer IC2 to Thermal Expansion and other machine mods. And Ender IO was far from stable in our server testing, so we decided to pull it in favor of Mekanism.

Thanks again for your feedback.

-1 No enderio WTF Y NO ENDER IO?  -------------______________________________-----------\

Nvm I see u have mekanism its the best. Who needs EnderIO

-1 implementing projectE into your modpack correctly

WHY would you put an EE2 clone in here? do you not care about the balance AT ALL?

+1 main menu

Agreed :D

Suggestion: FastCraft

Rom your post text is invisible to me, but I'm gonna guess it's about ProjectE since that's what Slit mentioned :P So yes Slit did custom configurations for us, if you find anything that seems overly op or unbalanced with the current update be sure to let us know.

I strongly recommend MapWriter as alternative to Rei's, it is much faster and more comfortable to use, and included for a good reason in i.E. Opis.

If you focus on stability I'd suggest to switch to Open Computers immediately. Not only is it more stable compared to CC (no crash-the-server-programs possible, no protection bypass) it also has a much lower bandwidth use, and long-running programs do not slow down the server as CC programs do. On the other hand Open Computers is 110% compatible to everything and a complete and superior replacement for CC.

The problem with VeinMiner + TreeCap + Tinker's is that you get a completely op set of tools that are far superior to every machine you can possibly build. TC alone not only kills any PvP (100+ damage weapons are just stupidly op) but a properly forged hammer can mine faster than any quarry ever will. Now add VeinMiner on top and... wow! Why would I even build a machine if that single hammer mines faster than 10 quarries?
An alternative to TreeCap is RandomThings, which - aside from other nice things - comes with a faster leaves decay option. And I would not include VeinMiner in anything, because it's buggy, laggy and seriously OP if used outside void worlds.

Legacy Fixer is only useful if someone uses Java 6, and if anyone does that, they should immediately update their Java version, because it contains countless security issues. Java 8 runs on all platforms, so there is no reason to not update aside from the person being lazy. On the other hand the fixer is a rather crude hack that can potentially cause issues with mods. I wouldn't include that just because someone can't be bothered to click 'yes' if Java asks for an update.

Talking about BuildCraft aesthetics... Well if someone likes it, I don't. Still it causes significantly more lag than i.E. TE or ProjectRed pipes. One big base made with all BC is already sufficient to bring down TPS.

I also recommend adding TwoTility, which enhances early-game without changing it too much, for example a much better crafting table, and is completely configurable. Once you used that crafting table, you never want to go back. ;)

Oh and about FastCraft: I hope you read the license, because that one is really annoying for modpacks. Aside from that it really dosn't improve speed enough to justify the trouble you sign in when accepting that license.

Will look into Mapwriter for next release. Like I previously mentioned, OpenComputers will also be considered for the next release. As far as Tinker's Construct, can you give me details of the excessively op weapons/upgrades? I know you can make strong weapons from that mod but I don't know of any weapons with anywhere near 100 attack damage.

TreeCapitator is nice in my opinion because it doesn't leave half-chopped down trees all over the place. Veinminer has limits to how many blocks it will break at once. Although it may have issues with the mytown protection system, which is something we will have to look into. I haven't encountered or have had reports of anyone having issues with the Legacy Java Fixer, so unless it's actually breaking something there is no need to pull it.

BuildCraft can of course be limited if issues of lag occur. But the builds have come a very long way since BC on 1.6.4, so I can't say how many of the original lag issues still exist.

This pack meets the requirements of the FastCraft license, not an issue. Might consider RandomThings and TwoTility in a future release.

Thanks for your feedback.
