Ever death all stuff gone

hey i just have a request. 

i know when i die that my stuff is suppost to drop on the ground. then i should have a chance to get back an collect it ? 

i my case: I come back and all my stuff despawns instandly ........ is this suppost to happen ????

i know rl craft is hard but that i could also play hardcore ......
