There's a protection of some kind that doesn't allow enderman to break blocks to get to you. However the action of attempt to break is still there to reach the player. When it comes towards the Yabba barrels mod. If an enderman attempts to break a barrel it will dupe the barrel keeping all contents of if barrel dropping the block onto the ground. Dupe barrel works the same as if nothing happened.
