So I used the teleportation sign at spawn and ended up in a y level 27 ravine/mineshaft/player base, could I be teleported to somewhere more beginner friendly? lol

There are many ways of teleporting.
Go to spawn: /spawn
Go to a random location: /rtp
Go to a home you set earlier: /home <name>
Go to another player: /tpa <name>
