i bought 2 spawn eggs for cows yesterday - today they are gone, as all animals are. Is there any way to get a refund for the cows?

nevermind... some very nice person went through the trouble killing all my animals a random can possibly reach and this time captured or killed my villager too... i thought they also were protected by the protection blocks... well... evidently they are not... ^^
