I love blood moon in singleplayer, don't get me wrong. But on multiplayer servers, it often causes a restart cycle where every 3 or 4 minutes the server restarts due to the lag detection. 

If the blood moon occurs while there are no staff available, players are stuck being unable to play (unless you count 5 minute, somewhat unresponsive gameplay).

This could turn new players who join the server away, as the lag and constant restart would be their first impression. 

Having a way to vote to skip the blood moon would resolve these issues, until a way to have blood moon occur without lag is found.

Basically, if half of the server votes to skip, it should skip. 

This could extend into a clear mobs vote, but that's for another topic entirely.
