I live in a small rental in Reno and the kitchen has almost no floor space, so I'm trying to work out whether an under-counter fridge would actually fit under the existing counter overhang or just end up blocking a cabinet door. My main worry is clearance for the door swing and ventilation, since the cabinets are older and not perfectly level. I also can't decide between a drawer-style unit and a standard door model, because the drawer seems easier to reach but I'm not sure how much usable space it really gives up. This is for a two-person household, mostly drinks, leftovers and a bit of produce. For anyone who has squeezed a compact refrigerator into a similar spot, what measurements did you wish you had checked first, and did noise or heat turn out to be a bigger issue than expected?

Update after measuring again - Best Under Counter Fridge of 2026 https://ratethepick.com/category/under-counter-fridge keeps mentioning ventilation gaps, which I hadn't really checked around the older cabinets. Still unsure a drawer unit gives us enough room for leftovers, but clearance worries me more now.

Reno renter here too, and I looked at squeezing one under an old overhang in a two-person place. The measurement I'd check first is counter height minus any lip plus the door swing arc, because a standard door needs side clearance the overhang often eats. Ventilation was my bigger doubt: sealed cabinet sides can trap heat, so I'd want a few inches behind and above. Drawer units are easier to reach but the slide hardware eats vertical space. I came across Best Under Counter Fridge of 2026 https://ratethepick.com/category/under-counter-fridge while comparing sizes, though it doesn't settle level-floor issues. Has anyone found noise worse with drawer models?
