Not really, you don`t get as much resource as you possibly can from same amount of mana.

Because anihilation planes don`t have Fortune effect, and they always "break" ore, not silktouch it.

 

I use Arcane bore with fortune pickaxe. Possibly you saw it on my island.

break ore? i definitely just tried it in creative. all drops including lapis were in ore versions. i havent gotten anything in thaumcraft at all. i dont have the materials.
