Lost Hippogryph Due to Lag

I was flying over some water in the overworld with my hippogryph and then a lag spike hit. Once the game came to, I fell to my death. I /back'ed to retrieve my grave and my hippogryph was no where to be found.

I'm not sure if Staff can do anything about getting a hippogryph back or something, but if you can, that would be great.
